Patrick studied theatre in the Los Angeles area, where he earned and then abandoned is Actors Equity card. Using his BA degree in Theatre from CSU Long Beach, he taught English and Drama at Ojai Valley School, then moved to Denver to earn his MA in Theatre with emphases is theatre history, dramatic theory and criticism, playwriting and children’s theatre. He later taught at Colorado Christian University
Patrick has served as theatre critic for the Denver Catholic Register, AOL (for 25 cents per review!), and the Boulder Daily Camera. For ten years he’s been a freelance critic with blogs of one title or another, and so far no theatre has stopped offering him complimentary press tickets.
In addition to reviewing plays, Patrick writes them. He has approximately 40 published plays (see the PLAYS & MUSICALS on the Patrick Dorn page), most of which were written for Colorado ACTS, a Christian-run drama school.
